Lizton Financial Corporation is an Indiana-based financial holding company and the parent organization of State Bank and Compass Investment Services.

Founded in 1910, Lizton Financial has grown steadily while maintaining a conservative, community-focused approach to banking and financial services. Decisions are made locally by people who live and work in the communities we serve, with a long-term view toward stability, sound financial management, and responsible growth.

As a privately held institution, Lizton Financial prioritizes sustainable performance, local reinvestment, and transparency with its shareholders. Our focus is not rapid expansion, but consistent stewardship—supporting customers, communities, and shareholders through economic cycles.

The Board of Directors provides oversight and strategic guidance to support the long-term stability and governance of Lizton Financial Corporation.

Andy Wernsman
Chairman of the Board

Andy Wernsman was the General Manager and Director of Operations/Partner at Bill Estes Automotive/Asbury Automotive for 18 years, where he led operational strategy and performance for the four Bill Estes Automotive stores. He was instrumental in helping sell the Estes Group to Asbury Automotive in February of 2019. He was also actively engaged in the Ford Dealer Advertising Fund Board for the Cincinnati Region, representing 180 automotives stores in what was one of the strongest automotive markets in the US. He is currently the GM of the Roush Automotive Group in Central Indiana and is part owner of Spring Brook Farms with his wife Lori.
Since 2015, Andy has been a valued member of the Board of Directors, and in 2021 he was elected Chairman of the Board. With deep experience in automotive retail and leadership Andy provides the State Bank Board with expertise in organizational growth, marketing strategy, financial management, and workforce development.
Andy attended Eastern Illinois University and graduated from Northwestern Executive School of Management. He resides in New Ross, Indiana, with his wife, Lori; together they have four grown children and 11 grandchildren.



Michael L. Baker
Vice Chair

Mike Baker served as the sixth President/CEO of State Bank for 13 years before retiring in 2025. Mike currently serves as Vice Chairman for the Board. Before joining the bank, he was President/CEO of Madison Community Bank in Anderson which was acquired by First Merchants Bank. He serves as a liaison between the board, shareholders and president of the bank, Matt Price. Mike received his undergraduate and MBA degrees in marketing from Ball State University and Butler University, respectively. He has two grown sons.



Matt Price
President & CEO

Matt Price serves as President and CEO for State Bank. Matt joined the Board of Directors of the Bank in 2018 bringing more than 32 years of legal expertise to that role. He was a partner at Dentons Bingham Greenebaum in Indianapolis and led the firm’s Indianapolis office as Managing Partner, while later serving on the firm’s Board of Directors.
Matt Price’s law practice involved complex real estate and financing transactions often with a regulatory component. He helped form and lead the law firm’s Economic Development Practice Group and from that position advised important economic development projects across the State of Indiana. Matt’s career as an advocate championed growth opportunities for small business, the exercise of property rights, and the promotion of local investment.
Matt brings his passion for community banking to his current leadership role at State Bank, where he emphasizes local leadership, builds community partnerships, and fosters strong teamwork in his leadership of State Bank. Matt was raised in Zionsville and lives there now with his wife, Beth, and two sons.



Don Geisler
Board Emeritus

Don Geisler served on the State Bank Board for over 31 years and now serves in an emeritus capacity. A resident of Lebanon, Geisler was president of Geisler Trucking, Inc., former president and board member of Ulen Country Club and is currently the president of the Boone County Sheriff Merit Board.



W. Quinn Buckner

Quinn Buckner is the Vice President of Communications for Pacers Sports & Entertainment, longtime professional basketball television analyst, and Partner at Mack Financial Group. Buckner brings more than 45 years of experience in leadership and team building as a former NBA athlete and coach to the Bank’s board. A community advocate, Buckner leads the Pacers youth basketball program and is Chairman of Indiana University’s Board of Trustees. He formerly served on the boards of various charities throughout Central Indiana. Buckner graduated from Indiana University with a degree in business and currently resides in Bloomington, Indiana.



Melinda Haines

Melinda Haines is the Co-owner and Corporate Secretary and Treasurer of Haines Trucking, Inc and Co-owner and President of Hoosier Truck and Trailer Repair, Inc. in Lebanon, Indiana. As an entrepreneur, she brings State Bank expertise in the areas of financial management, brand integrity, and customer and employee relations. A lifelong resident of Lebanon, Haines has been heavily involved in the Lebanon School Corporation over the years serving on PTO and various youth athletic organization capacities.



Anthony Hession

Anthony is the president of Hession Farms, Inc., a large family-owned farm operation that established its heritage in Brownsburg, Indiana in 1837. His business areas of responsibility include financial guidance, commodity marketing, and agricultural operations. Anthony has been a life-long resident of Brownsburg, Indiana. Anthony and his wife Tammy have three children and seven grandchildren. Anthony also serves as a Board Member of the Hendricks County Board of Zoning Appeals and Brownsburg School Corporation’s Building Committee. His is an active member of St. Malachy Catholic Church in Brownsburg.



J. Kevin McGrath

Kevin McGrath is a C-level executive with more than 40 years of experience in public accounting. He has extensive experience in leading multi-cultural and worldwide teams as well as managing for growth in an international business environment. Now retired, McGrath most recently served as CEO of Crowe Global. He is a former member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Indiana CPA Society and served on the Indianapolis 500 Festival, Indianapolis Junior Achievement and the Indianapolis Civic Theater boards. Kevin was twice named by the International Accounting Bulletin as one of the 50 most powerful people in the global accounting profession.



Leslie (Les) Mongell

Les Mongell retired as President and CEO of State Bank in 2013 after 30 years of service. Prior to joining the bank, he was a bank examiner for the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions. He brings expertise in regulatory compliance, lending and lending operations and executive management.
Mongell resides in Brownsburg with his wife, Marsha. He has been involved in various civic organizations over the years; he is still active in Kiwanis Club of Brownsburg and its sister foundation.



Cate Sabatine

Cate Sabatine is currently serving as Chief Administrative Officer & General Counsel at Indianapolis-based American Senior Communities where she oversees healthcare and senior housing legal matters, Human Resources, real estate business, and corporate transactions. She provides legal support and guidance for the largest post-acute care provider in the State with 105 sites of service and 11,000 employees. During her career, Sabatine was also an attorney at both Amundsen Davis, LLC and Krieg DeVault.



James M. Cooper

James M. Cooper was elected to the Board of Directors in April 2024. Over a 40-year career in financial services regulation and banking advocacy, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors and as Deputy Director of the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions. He brings deep expertise in bank supervision, regulatory policy, corporate governance, and strategic planning, with a strong understanding of the issues shaping financial institutions at the state and national levels.
